We are excited to announce this week’s launch of the project “Building Healthy Eating Habits Amongst Preschool Children”.
This project, coordinated by UNICEF in partnership with the Association EDULAND and with the active participation of the ARETE Association for Sustainable Development, includes educational training sessions initially piloted in several kindergartens for preschool staff, with plans to expand to 30 more kindergartens across the country. The training sessions involve directors, professional staff, educators, caregivers, and kitchen staff.
The project kicked off with two pilot trainings which took place this week in two kindergartens in Skopje: 25th of May and Goce Delcev. It is set to continue on May 28th with a third pilot in Prilep at the kindergarten “Our Future”.

Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Gjoko Velkovski, along with UNICEF representative Patricia DiGiovanni and Mayor of Ilinden, Aleksandar Georgievski, attended the event at the “Goce Delchev” kindergarten in the Ilinden municipality in Skopje.
This pioneering project, which Arete supports as part of FEAST, aims to empower educators with the knowledge and skills needed to foster healthy eating habits among children. It represent a crucial step towards building a #sustainablefoodsystem.
For Arete, this initiative holds particular significance as it aligns with and advances the broader goals of FEAST (Food systems that support transitions to healthy and sustainable diets) a flagship project aimed at catalyzing Europe’s transition to a ‘Win-Win-Win-Win’ food system. By promoting synergies between people, the planet, and the public and private sectors, FEAST seeks to drive positive change across the food value chain.
